The North Pole Express
With the Christmas season upon us, it’s fun to begin family traditions. Some of our traditions are driving the neighborhoods viewing Christmas lights and the adventurous road trips to visit family. This year we started a new magical holiday tradition riding The Polar Express or because of licensing issues, The North Pole Express.
For our trip to the great north we visited Fillmore and Western Railway located in Filmore, California in the Santa Clara River Valley.
Our pajama clad kids loved the train platform all done up in lights and decorations. The sights and sounds of a working train yard mesmerized them. There they have rail cars turned into shops and afford a great view of the locomotives working to ready the train.
Waiting along the platform, the conductor called, “All Aboard!” The kids giggled with excitement as the jovial conductor welcomed us aboard for this one-of-a-kind Christmas experience.
Aboard the train, we nibbled on cookies & milk and experienced the joy of caroling with the elves. Upon arrival at the North Pole, we picked up everyone’s favorite man in red and received a special souvenir—a sleigh bell!
Back at the station, we waited in line with anticipation of meeting Santa in his own decked out caboose. It truly was a memorable experience!
If this extrusion sounds fun to you but you don’t live in Northern Los Angeles County, here is a partial list of locations in the United States that feature The Polar Express rides: Santa Train Rides
Make sure to book early and check to see what time you have to arrive; some require early seating due to strict departure times. Enjoy!
What holiday traditions do you do with your family? We love to connect with others, so feel free to leave us a comment!
